Knowledge
A curriculum grounded in current palliative practice, not folklore. Structured theory, supervised clinical hours, and assessment against written competencies — so a certificate from us means the holder can actually do the work.
Empathy
Communication, counselling and bereavement support are taught as core subjects, not optional extras. Our trainees learn to sit with a frightened family, break difficult news gently, and treat the patient in the bed as a person, not a diagnosis.
Excellence
Small batches, experienced faculty, and real postings in hospitals and homes. Every programme ends in a practical assessment — nobody passes on attendance alone.
Impact

Alpha Institute of Palliative Sciences is the training arm of Alpha Charitable Trust. We prepare people to look after patients living with cancer, chronic illness, neurological conditions, age-related frailty and the final phase of life — at the bedside, in the clinic and inside the home.
Our classrooms are deliberately practical: supervised clinical hours, real home-care visits, communication and grief-support training, and a strong grounding in ethics and dignity. Graduates leave employable, confident and genuinely useful on day one.

The country needs far more trained hands in palliative care than it has. We teach anyone with the aptitude for the work — and we spend most of our effort removing the barriers that keep people out of training: cost, distance, and childcare. Our women’s employment initiative exists inside that wider promise.

Basic Certificate Course in Palliative Nursing
Pain and symptom management, wound and stoma care, end-of-life nursing, communication with families, supervised clinical postings.
Foundation Course in Palliative Medicine
Clinical assessment, opioid and non-opioid analgesia, ethics and law, breaking bad news, team-based home care.
Certified Home Caregiver Programme
Our flagship livelihood course: personal care, mobility and hygiene, nutrition, vitals, medication support, emergency response and household safety — ending in a placement interview.
Geriatric Care Assistant Course
Age-related conditions, dementia support, fall prevention, physiotherapy assistance and dignified daily-living care for older adults.
Community Palliative Care Volunteer Training
For neighbourhood volunteers and self-help groups: identifying patients, basic bedside help, listening skills and linking families to services.
Diploma in Palliative Care Management
For those who will run services: team leadership, home-care logistics, documentation and audit, counselling supervision and community programme design.

Questions
Before you apply
Do I need a nursing background to join?
Not for the Certified Home Caregiver, Geriatric Care Assistant or Volunteer programmes — Class 10 is enough. The Palliative Nursing and Palliative Medicine courses require a nursing or medical qualification.
How do I get a scholarship?
Tick the scholarship box in the application form. You will be asked for an income certificate and one ID proof. Awards range from 25% to a full waiver depending on need, and are open to every applicant.
Is the certificate recognised?
Certificates are issued by Alpha Institute of Palliative Sciences under Alpha Charitable Trust. For affiliations and council registrations, please ask the admissions office — we will send you the current documentation.
Will I get a job after the course?
We provide placement assistance — hospitals, hospices, home-care agencies and private families. The self-employment track supports graduates who want to practise independently.
Can I pay the fee in instalments?
Yes, for the Diploma and on request for other programmes. Speak to the admissions office before making the first payment.
